Basia enjoyed visiting the library very much. She loved the smell of the books and the whispering of the lady librarian, who always knew the most interesting stories. One quiet afternoon, when it was raining outside, Basia sat on a soft pouffe in a corner and read a book about dragons. Next to her lay Filemon - a fluffy white cat with a black patch on his tail. Filemon liked to sleep, but today he had unusually alert ears. Suddenly Filemon stood up and headed towards the bookcase at the very end of the room. Basia raised her eyes and noticed something glinting in the wall behind the bookcase. She rose quietly, so as not to frighten the cat, and walked closer. It turned out that hidden behind the books was an old wooden door with a golden key carved inside. - 'Philemon, have you seen this before? - Basia asked, stroking the cat's head. Filemon only purred and tapped the door with his paw, which creaked softly. She touched the handle - it was cool and a little heavy. She pressed it gently. At that moment, the door began to glow with a blue light. Suddenly she felt something soft under her fingers, like a cloud. Philemon jumped through the door first - and disappeared! Basia glanced over the threshold... and saw swirling colours, flying books and something that looked like a large flying pencil. She took a deep breath and stepped over the threshold....
