Did You Know?

Aurora Starport

Aurora Starport
The Aurora research station, suspended on the edge of the shimmering Orion Nebula, was home to a crew of twelve. Among them was Lena, the fearless expedition leader, known for not being afraid to make the most difficult decisions. She was accompanied by Kacper, a brilliant engineer who could fix any system, and Dr Ravi, a specialist in extraterrestrial life. One sleepless night, while the rest of the crew slept, Lena sat in the communications centre, listening to the quiet hum of the equipment monitoring the station's surroundings. Suddenly, the screen lit up with a pulsating green light - an alien signal like they had never seen before. Kacper, attracted by the strange noise, immediately ran to the control room. They watched together as a sequence of codes emerged from the nebula, arranged in a geometric pattern. The Aurora crew had clear rules: avoid contact with the unknown until a thorough analysis had been carried out. However, Lena saw this as a unique opportunity. She called an advisory, at which crew members debated at length whether to pick up the signal and try to respond, or simply ignore it. Outside, the station was surrounded by the dancing light of the nebula, which seemed to thicken and darken at the moment, as if it was watching their every move. Dr Ravi noted in his log that the energy levels near Aurora had increased and the sensors registered an approaching object whose speed exceeded anything they knew. When Lena gave the signal to transmit the response in mathematical code, the entire station trembled - as if suddenly in the middle of a storm. The screens flickered and an image appeared on the main monitor: a swirling structure, resembling a huge, twisting spiral, slowly forming in the midst of a nebula. The crew watched in suspense as the unknown form began to transmit a succession of increasingly complex messages. Suddenly, the signals fell silent and a bright, pulsating ball of light appeared in the station's windows, growing larger every second and looking as if it was about to hit the Aurora at any moment. The air in the communications centre was filled with electrical tension. No one knew if this was the beginning of contact or a danger to the entire crew....
