Arbor Animal
On a June afternoon, Lena, Igor and Victor were wandering through the overgrown paths near the old city park. For a long time there had been rumours about an abandoned garden where strange phenomena were said to occur, but none of their friends dared to venture there. This time they decided to take a chance.
After climbing over tall nettles and passing through a rusty gate, the kids stood in front of a neglected gazebo laced with wild vines. From a distance it looked like an ordinary ruin, but some invisible force drew them closer and closer.
- 'Let's see what's inside,' whispered Victor, though his voice trembled slightly.
Inside, the gazebo was surprisingly well-preserved. The wooden beams, although covered in moss, did not bend under their weight. In the middle stood a mirror in an intricately carved wooden frame. Their reflections could not be seen in it; instead, the surface shone with a silvery light, as if something was moving just below the surface.
- This... is no ordinary mirror - whispered Lena, approaching cautiously. Igor leaned closer and suddenly a whisper came from the mirror's depths. They didn't recognise the words, but the sound caught their attention and drew them in tighter and tighter.
Suddenly, the surface of the mirror began to ripple like water, and a strange, glowing map of an unknown place emerged from within it.
- Perhaps it was... a portal? - asked Igor, but no one answered. Their hearts beat faster as Lena stretched her hand towards the shimmering sheet. At the same moment, they felt the air thicken and everything around them take on different colours.
Just before her hand touched the surface of the mirror, a quiet, dragging rustling sound came from behind the gazebo, as if something was waiting for them.
