Annie's Sock Forest
Anne lived in a small yellow house at the end of Jasmine Street. Every morning she wore clean socks with colourful stripes, which she liked very much. However, Ania's mother often complained that at least one sock was always lost in the washing machine.
One day Ania decided to solve this mystery. She stood by the washing machine before her mum had time to throw the clothes in. She stuck her head into the drum and called out: "Hey, socks, where are you?" To her amazement, she heard a quiet giggle! That's when she noticed that a small, glowing door had appeared in the depths of the drum.
Anna looked towards the kitchen - her mother was busy preparing breakfast. The girl took a deep breath and carefully slipped inside. She jumped over the threshold of the magic door and.... she found herself in a completely different world!
All around her stretched a thick, squishy forest - sock-like leaves grew on the trees and terry-cloth gnomes hung from the branches waving cheerfully to her. There was a smell of cleanliness in the air, a bit like washing-up liquid, but sweeter. Anne looked around with her eyes wide open, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Suddenly, a little creature wearing a hat made from the toe of a sock jumped out of the bushes. He walked up to Annie and said quietly:
"Hello, little girl! At last someone has come here. We are very busy, because today in the Sock Forest we have something unusual waiting for us.... But before I tell you, you must find the lost left sock with the green peas!"
Anne glanced down at her feet. That very sock was missing on one foot!
She looked around, fascinated and a little concerned, and curiosity mixed with growing excitement. After a moment, she heard a quiet rustling among the frills, as if something - or someone - was calling her....
