A Night on the Labyrinth of Emotions
On the edge of town, where new housing estates gave way to old, overgrown gardens and forgotten gazebos, stood a strange building. It was neither a house nor a school, and through the dirty windows no one had ever noticed anyone inside. It was under this building that Lena, Max and Igor came on a Friday evening, still warming up with memories of an argument after their last class. Each of them carried emotions they would rather not talk about: Lena hid anger, Max grief and Igor anxiety.
The night was sort of thicker than usual, and the light from the lanterns created strange shadows on the pavement. "Who's going to go in first?" - Lena asked, bolder than she felt inside. Max shrugged his shoulders, trying to look indifferent, but Igor noticed him clutching his phone tighter in his pocket.
The door gave way with a quiet creak. Inside, the air smelled of dust and something they couldn't name. The walls were covered with colourful murals: swirling colours and silhouettes of people with expressive faces. As they took a step forward, the light behind them dimmed and the floor trembled. The door slammed shut with a bang. Lena turned abruptly, but the handle did not give way.
A sudden noise spread through the building. Strings of lights dangled from the ceiling, illuminating the maze of corridors. Each wall shone in a different colour - red pulsed next to green, blue blended with gold.
- What is this place? - whispered Igor, uncertainly taking a step forward.
A figure emerged from among the colours - a shadow with the shape of a girl, somewhat similar to Lena, but her eyes were changing colour from amber to emerald. She held out her hand, indicating three different corridors.
- 'Each passage leads to where you are most afraid to enter,' she said, and her voice vibrated in the air. - 'But this is the only way you will find your way out.
The friends looked at each other - each felt that this was more than just a game. Behind the three corridors, colours pulsed: one was grey-blue, another yellow-green, the third blazed with the fire of red.
Max felt his heart speed up. He knew that behind that grey-blue light waited something he had not yet been able to cope with. Lena clenched her fists, ready to face her anger. Igor trembled, but took a step towards the shivering yellow-green tunnel.
As soon as they entered their corridors, the labyrinth closed behind them, and the sound of rising heartbeats filled the air. Each of them realised that before they could find a way out, they first had to meet eye to eye with their own truest feelings.
Suddenly, Lena heard a familiar voice, coming as if from within her own thoughts, and in the darkness before her, the silhouette of someone she had never expected to see here began to emerge....
