It had been a long time since Alice had slept so restlessly. After moving into the old attic flat, alien sounds seemed to multiply every night. Furniture creaked, echoes carried whispers and shadowy corners hid secrets. One night, as the clock chimed two o'clock, she heard someone's whisper - clear, though barely audible. "If only you knew what we're hiding...", sighed the aged wardrobe standing in the corner of the room, slamming the door on the floor. Alice bolted out of bed, convinced it was just a figment of her imagination. However, a glass vase on the windowsill joined in soon after: "Don't be afraid. You are our only hope now." Alice, with a mixture of fear and fascination, approached the wardrobe. "Why are you talking? Objects aren't supposed to ... talk." An old book rang off the shelf: "Sometimes inanimate things have more to say than people. This place hides secrets that long to see the light of day." Then even more voices emerged from the darkness. The lamp on the bedside table winked its light at her, and the floor beneath her feet trembled slightly, as if hiding yet another, most important secret. Alice felt a cold on her back. There was a strange smell of old letters and a hint of dampness in the air. "Can I trust you?" - she whispered, and the answer was a choral, rustling whisper: "If you want to know the truth, you must go down where no one has gone before you. But are you ready for what you will find?" Before she had time to answer, the floor beneath her feet began to gently pull apart, revealing a narrow, unlit step leading deep into the mysterious shadows beneath the attic....
