Did You Know?

A Night at the Mystery Antiquarian

A Night at the Mystery Antiquarian
Maja and Leon loved old books, strange trinkets and that smell of paper that can only be smelled in Mr Horst's antique shop. That is why, one hot summer evening, they agreed to help the old man close the shop. When midnight struck, they were left alone among the tall bookcases, porcelain dolls and dusty globes. The wind, which suddenly broke outside the window, extinguished all the candles except one - the one burning on the old brass candlestick. - 'Leon, did you hear that? - whispered Maja, stopping suddenly motionless. From the shadows under the large grandfather clock came their quiet giggling. - 'Don't joke around like that, Maja. I really did hear it. Suddenly, the dust-covered globe beside them twitched and then slowly turned. Its rustling voice was barely audible, but clearly said: - Are you looking for answers, children? The questions have been here for centuries, but you have to find the answers yourself. Maja blinked. Leon took a step back, knocking over the walkie-talkie, which beeped quietly. At the same moment, the porcelain doll on the top shelf rolled its eyes and sighed: - You'd better hurry. He already knows you're here. - Who? - ' Leon raised a hoarse voice, but no one answered. Instead, there was the sound of footsteps on the floor above. A shadow appeared on the stairs. Objects began to whisper at once in a thousand voices: - The key is hidden where the light goes out forever.... Before Maja had time to ask anything more, she felt an icy touch on her shoulder. She looked straight into the darkness as the shadow began to descend the stairs and become clearer and clearer....
