As the sun hid behind the hill and the first stars appeared in the sky, Kasia and her best friend, the plush lion Leo, stood just inside the entrance to the circus Under the Stars. A big, colourful tent had arrived in their town that evening, and all anyone was talking about was the amazing shows and funny clowns. Kasia had never seen a circus so close up before. Colourful flags twirled in the wind and lights flashed like skylights. She and Leo looked at the huge red and blue entrance. Suddenly, right next to them, strolled Mr Stefan - the circus director. He had a wide hat, a green tailcoat and a very cheerful smile. - Welcome! - Stefan called out. - Welcome to the evening show! Kasia smiled broadly and followed him inside. Inside the tent, everything looked magical: coloured lights swirled on the walls and the smell of candyfloss and popcorn was in the air. Clowns with big red noses appeared in the arena, and right behind them came elegant seals in hats, dancing on balls. After the show, when everyone was leaving, Kasia noticed that Mr Stefan had left his key behind. She looked at Leo and in a whisper said: - Why don't we check what the circus does at night? They quietly slipped out of the row and approached the door leading to the back room. It was dark inside, but through a crack in the door they could see that animals had gathered in the arena. An elephant was calmly moving large colourful balls, a rabbit was jumping through hoops and Susie the parrot was proudly reciting rhymes. Suddenly, they heard a strange sound - something creaked quietly behind their backs. Kasia turned abruptly, squeezing Leo tighter. A silhouette emerged in the darkness....
