The hedgehog and the mysterious egg
At the edge of the forest lived a hedgehog called Ignaś. He had a small backpack and a great curiosity. Every day he collected leaves in his clearing. He knew the birds, the ants and the quiet brook. One morning he saw something unusual under a fern.
An egg with blue dots was lying there. It was warm and trembled gently. Ignaz whispered: "Hello, little one, are you inside?" A squirrel named Pola jumped down from a branch. "It's not mine," she said, "but I know the paths." Together they moved through moss and cones. Tiny bird tracks glittered in the mud.
The tracks led under an old oak tree with a hollow. Suddenly an egg clattered once, then a second time. Ignaz stopped and gripped his rucksack tighter. "Do you hear that?" asked Pola, straightening her tail. Something rustled high up in the dense foliage. A shadow moved across the grass like a long cloud. An egg rocked in its paws and....
