Space Class 8B

Space Class 8B
At the Nicolaus Copernicus School in Swidrówka Dolna, every break is a race for the best place in the corridor. But one day in June trumped all of the previous ones. That morning, chaos reigned from the very first lesson. It started quite innocently: Mrs Wozniak, the physics teacher (known for being able to carry out experiments even with a glass of water and a rubber band), decided to do the lesson in an old, forgotten laboratory at the end of the school corridor. Only a few students knew that this laboratory still existed. Legend had it that the last time someone opened the door that year, when an old computer with a screen like an aquarium unexpectedly spilled green liquid all over the table. Since then, no one wanted to go near the place (well, unless they were looking for quiet to do homework or just wanted to hide from the teacher on duty). But Mrs Wozniak was fearless. She opened the rustling lock and invited Class 8B inside. - 'Today we're going to do a pressure experiment,' she declared with a gleam in her eye. Marek, a perpetually scatterbrained inventor with a self-made watch (which always displayed the time five minutes ahead), immediately discovered something interesting: In the corner of the laboratory there was a huge, round machine with lots of buttons, levers and luminous lights. A sign on its front read: "PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH - EXPERIMENTAL TIME HOOVER". - 'Marek, if you don't leave, it'll suck you in,' warned Ada quietly, who had always been prone to predicting the worst. But Marek already had his hand on the biggest red button. - 'What's the worst that could happen? - He asked with a glint in his eye that presaged trouble. The rest of the class lined up a short distance away. Something about the machine attracted everyone like a magnet. Even Luke, the school sceptic, put down his phone to see better. Marek pressed the button. At first, nothing happened. Everyone held their breath. Then the machine made a sound like a hippopotamus sneezing and began to shake. The lights flashed, the levers jumped like crazy and the smell of burnt pancakes came from inside. Suddenly, a swirling gust of air filled the laboratory and a bright flare appeared in the corner. Everyone looked at each other. Someone from the students exclaimed: "Look at Mark's watch!" - the hands were spinning in reverse and the second hand was dancing a lambada. At that moment the floor shook a second time. Strange drawings appeared on the ceiling - they resembled star maps. The machine's loudspeaker unexpectedly emitted a message: "Sequence active. Please prepare for...". Unfortunately, the message stopped halfway through, and the whole class was now facing a swirling, ever-brightening spiral, which was getting bigger and ... more unpredictable.
