It is Christmas Eve evening and it is snowing. Hania looks out of the window and blows on the glass. The house smells of borscht and cabbage dumplings. The Christmas tree glows with warm lights and paper stars. Dad carries the wafer, and Mum puts up the candles. Grandpa fixes the chain on the door and winks. Outside the window, the snow creaks under someone's shoes. Suddenly, the quiet sound of a bell is heard from the floor. Hania kneels by the Christmas tree and lifts the blanket. Under the branches, she sees a small, round door. A golden star is painted on the door. Next to it lies silver dust like a little star. One star is missing from the top of the Christmas tree. Hania whispers, "Hello? Who lives there?" The door shakes slightly and flashes like snow in the night. Quiet footsteps are heard, and a tiny whisper comes from behind the wood. "Please open, because Santa's time is running out!" Hania reaches out and touches the handle. From afar, the sleigh bell on the street also rings. At that moment, someone knocks on the window.
