Did You Know?

Envelope from Santa Claus

Envelope from Santa Claus
It was snowing softly and quietly on Christmas Eve. Basia and Olek were dressing the Christmas tree at their grandmother's house. A golden ribbon and a small bell were sticking out of a drawer. The kitchen smelled of borscht and the clock was ticking merrily. Grandma said: "May the first star guide us". Basia reached for the bell and suddenly froze. At the bottom of the box lay an envelope with a red stripe. On the envelope was written: For Santa's Helper. - Me?" whispered Olek, pointing at his jumper. Basia opened the envelope, and inside was a plan. Three steps, three places, three secret tasks today. At the bottom was a drawing of a roof and a chimney. Outside the window something rang, like a tiny toboggan. Glitter fell from the ceiling, though no one was sprinkling it. The clock stopped ticking for one long second. Someone knocked on the window three times, very quietly.
