Susie finds a glittering stone that can talk and knows the forest’s magic. It asks for help finding a mysterious light hidden deep among the trees.
One bright morning, Susie was playing in the garden when something glimmered beneath a big bush.
She crouched down and reached into the leaves. There, warm in her hand, lay a small round stone that shone with tiny flashes of blue, gold, and green.
Then the stone gave a little cough.
“Thank you for finding me,” it said in a soft, squeaky voice. “I am Kamyk Czarusiak, and I know many magic stories.”
Susie blinked. Then she grinned.
“Can you show me something magical?” she asked.
Kamyk sparkled brighter. “Yes, but first we must find the mysterious light that appears at night deep in the forest. Will you come with me?”
Susie looked toward the path between the trees. It was dark under the branches, even in the sunshine. A breeze brushed her cheek, and the leaves whispered as if they were hiding a secret.
She took one small step forward.
Then, from behind the bushes, came a soft rustle. A puff of purple mist drifted across the path, and Kamyk began to glow in seven shining colours. Susie held her breath. Something in the forest had just noticed them.
