Zosia finds an old starry blanket that carries her into a strange, colourful sky full of singing birds and mysterious surprises.
One rainy afternoon, Zosia sat on her bed and watched the water drip down the window. Her room felt quiet and grey. Then, at the very back of the wardrobe, she spotted something bright and crumpled.
It was an old blanket, covered in stars. When Zosia pulled it free, it shimmered with red, blue, and gold threads. It felt warm and soft, like it had been waiting just for her.
Zosia wrapped it around her shoulders.
A tiny tickle ran through her toes.
The floor gave a gentle wobble. Her bed rose into the air. Up, up, up it floated, until the ceiling disappeared and clouds drifted all around her.
Pink birds fluttered past, singing tiny laughing songs. A big blue cat sat on a cloud and played a violin made of moonlight. Little elephants in bright hats marched along a rainbow bridge, stamping their feet in time.
Zosia laughed, but then she went very still.
Right in front of her floating bed, a huge golden door appeared in the clouds. On it, in sparkling letters, was a sign that read: FOR THE BRAVE ONLY.
Zosia held her breath. The door creaked a little, as if someone inside had just started to open it.
