A Christmas Eve evening, a quiet bell and glowing footsteps lead Sophie to a mystery in an old shed.
It was Christmas Eve and it was quietly snowing. Zosia was wearing a red scarf and warm gloves. The house smelled of gingerbread and spruce branches. Mum was stirring cocoa, Dad was hanging the last bauble. Zosia looked out of the window at the white garden.
Suddenly she heard a soft sound, like a small bell. It sounded like a call, just below the kitchen window. Zosia put on her shoes and grabbed a small torch. There were small footprints in the snow, like from boots. The footprints glowed softly, as if they had stars in them.
They led to an old shed next to the Christmas tree. The door was ajar and a light flashed inside. Zosia looked in and whispered quietly: "Hello, is anyone there?" The bell rang louder and footsteps flashed like ice. Something moved behind the haybag. Zosia held out her hand, when suddenly someone sneezed! It sounded like a sneeze very, very small.
