Tosia and the Enchanted Wardrobe

Tosia finds an old wardrobe that opens into a rainbow portal, and with her kitten Pikus she steps into a strange world full of wonder and whispers.

Tosia loved her room. It was full of soft cushions, bright crayons, and her kitten Pikus, who liked to curl up in the warmest corner and watch everything.

One rainy afternoon, Tosia's mother said, "Time to tidy up."

Tosia pushed a pile of toys aside and dragged the big old wardrobe away from the wall. Something made her stop. A tiny flicker of light danced on the back panel, green, pink, and gold, like a piece of a rainbow had gotten stuck there.

She leaned closer. "What's that?" she whispered.

Pikus padded over and sniffed the air. The light twitched once, then spun faster and faster. In a blink, the wardrobe had a round, glowing opening in it, and a cool breeze puffed out, smelling like rain and faraway places.

Tosia hugged Pikus tight. Her heart thumped like little footsteps. Then she took one careful step forward.

The wind caught her, light and swirly, and whisked her through the bright hole. Colours whizzed past her face. Somewhere, children were laughing softly, as if they were playing just beyond the clouds.

When the spinning finally stopped, Tosia blinked.

In front of her stood a huge forest, but it was not like any forest she had ever seen. Some of the trees grew out of open books. Others had silver ribbons twisting around their trunks. Above her head, tiny teddy bears floated between the branches like fluffy balloons.

Pikus let out a tiny meow.

Then, from beneath the nearest tree, Tosia heard a whisper. Quiet. Strange. Close.
