Tosia finds a spotted hat in the garden, and when she tries it on, the grass starts to sing and a bunny opens a secret door in the hedge.
Tosia loved the garden behind the house. On warm, sunny afternoons, she ran through the grass, watched the bees, and listened to the leaves rustle in the magnolia tree.
One day, while chasing a butterfly, she stopped short. Under the tree, half-hidden by the bush, lay a bright hat with yellow dots and a shiny blue ribbon. Tosia looked left. She looked right. No one was there.
"Where did you come from?" she whispered.
Very carefully, she picked up the hat and put it on her head. At once, a soft breeze tickled her cheeks, the grass gave a tiny singing hum, and a little bunny popped out from behind the magnolia trunk. He gave Tosia a proper bow.
"Hello, Tosia," he said. "Are you ready for a magical adventure?"
Tosia's heart gave a jump. Behind the hedge, something she had never noticed before was opening slowly, as if the garden itself had been waiting for her to look.
