Tosia and the Galactic Cushions

Tosia discovers two glowing pillows that whisk her to a puzzling space station full of tiny robots and a very strange warning.

Tosia loved curling up on her favourite pillow and watching the stars blink outside her window. One evening, after Mum whispered goodnight and closed the door, Tosia sat up and blinked. On her bed lay two little cushions she had never seen before. They were bright as jelly sweets, soft as clouds, and each one had a glowing button in the middle.

Tosia picked up the blue one and gave it a gentle squeeze.

The bed gave a tiny shake.

Then a bigger one.

"Oh!" Tosia squeaked, clutching the pillow tight.

The room spun like a whirling top, the moonlight stretched long and silver, and in the next breath she was somewhere else entirely. She was standing in a shiny white room that hummed like a bee. Tiny robots zipped past her feet, their metal wheels squeaking. Each robot carried a rocket-shaped pillow, and their little arms moved so quickly they looked blurry.

A robot with a blue light on its head rolled up to Tosia and tilted politely. "Hello, Tosia," it said. "Welcome to Pillow Station, high above the galaxy. We have been waiting for you. But listen carefully..."

Before it could say another word, every button on every pillow began to flash red. A low hum filled the room. Tosia turned toward the huge round window, and her breath caught. Something dark and enormous was sliding slowly closer to the station.
