Felek and his cat Luna spot a strange smile in the stars and find a tiny rocket waiting in their room. They fly toward a purple planet where something unusual is calling them.
Felek loved looking at the night sky. He liked the quiet, the dark blue velvet of it, and the tiny lights that seemed to wink back at him.
One evening, he pressed his nose to the window and froze. The stars were not in their usual places. They had bent into a crooked smile across the sky.
Luna, his cat, leaped onto the windowsill and gave a soft purr.
Then Felek heard it.
Biiip.
The sound came from his bedroom floor.
There, shining like a dropped jewel, stood a tiny rocket. It was painted in bright colours, with round portholes and two soft seats inside. The little door creaked open as if it had been waiting for them all along.
"Are we flying?" meowed Luna.
Felek swallowed, then wrapped his arms around her. The rocket smelled sweet, like candyfloss and warm sugar. Outside the window, the stars glittered. Inside, everything glowed with a gentle light.
Felek and Luna climbed in.
At first, the rocket only rocked softly, as if taking a breath. Then it gave a sudden whirr and shot forward. Faster and faster they went, past shining moons and sleepy planets, until the stars stretched into silver streaks.
"Hold on, Luna," Felek whispered.
Far ahead, a purple planet appeared, round and glowing in the dark. Sparkling stars danced around it like fireflies.
But one of those stars was not a star at all.
It was huge and bright and round, like a lollipop, and it was waving at them.
The rocket slowed. Luna's ears stood straight up. Felek leaned closer to the glass, his heart thumping.
"Did you see that?" he breathed.
The rocket began to land.
The little door started to slide open, and a blinding light spilled inside, bright as daytime. Felek squeezed Luna's paw as something waited just beyond the doorway.
