The Secret of the Tooth Labyrinth

Basia and Janek are pulled into a hidden world inside a toothbrush, where milk teeth are vanishing and a strange figure is waiting in the maze.

On a cloudy Monday morning, Basia and Janek were still arguing in the bathroom.

Janek leaned over the sink with a toothbrush in one hand and toothpaste in the other, making a face as if brushing were the worst job in the world. Basia, who had just lost her last milk tooth, watched him with a crooked grin.

"What is it now?" she asked. "Are you scared the toothbrush will bite back?"

Janek huffed and reached for the tap.

The moment the water ran, the sink began to shimmer.

A whirl of bubbles spun up from the drain, bright as confetti. The toothbrush in Janek’s hand gave a sharp buzz, then glowed so fiercely that both children had to blink. It stretched, creaked, and grew until it stood as tall as a wardrobe door.

Basia stumbled back. "Janek... did your toothbrush just grow?"

Before he could answer, a soft voice drifted out from somewhere deep inside the bristles.

"Help! Someone is stealing teeth from the Land of the Mouth!"

The bubbles surged higher. They wrapped around Basia and Janek like a rushing tide, lifting them off their feet and pulling them straight through the shining handle.

A second later, they landed on a floor as soft as toothpaste cream.

They were standing in a labyrinth of towering white walls that looked exactly like giant teeth. Above them, tiny brush-like creatures zipped between the arches. Far away, beyond the twists and turns, a palace made of silver floss glittered in the dim light.

Janek grabbed Basia’s hand. Somewhere in the maze, voices were calling out, thin and urgent.

"Hurry! If the teeth disappear, the smile will disappear too!"

Basia swallowed hard and took a step forward.

Then a figure turned the corner ahead of them.

She wore a hat shaped like a bubble and carried a sack that clinked softly with something hard and shiny inside.

Janek stared at the bag. Basia stared at the figure’s grin.

It was full of tiny white teeth.
