Zosia finds a hidden drawer in her room, and when she opens it, a blue light, tiny stars, and a mysterious staircase appear.
Zosia's room was small and sunny, with an old chest of drawers tucked against the wall. Rain tapped at the window, so she sat on the floor and started sorting her treasures. She lined up books, coloured crayons, and little animal figurines, humming softly to herself.
Then she stopped.
Right in the far corner of the chest was a tiny drawer she had never noticed before. It was so small it looked as if it had been hiding on purpose.
Zosia leaned closer and touched the little golden handle. The drawer gave a sleepy creak and opened a crack. Blue light slipped out, soft as moonshine, and the room filled with the sweet smell of raspberries and vanilla.
Before Zosia could step back, a burst of laughing stars spilled from the drawer. They twirled over her knees, darted around the chest, and whispered, "Come with us. Come!"
Zosia peered inside. Deep in the drawer, a tiny staircase was shining there, winding down into the dark as if it had been waiting just for her.
She held her breath. One step glimmered, then another, and a strange little sound rose from below, as though something had just woken up.
