Kuba and Ania find a tiny rainbow door hidden inside Grandma’s old wardrobe, and it begins to open to a bright, strange world.
Kuba was seven, and his little sister Ania was five. On a cloudy afternoon, they were visiting Grandma in her old country house. In the guest room stood a huge wardrobe with a dark, shiny handle. It always looked a little bit scary and a little bit exciting.
Grandma smiled and said, "You may play hide and seek, but be careful."
Ania clapped her hands. "I’ll hide first!" she whispered, and darted into the room. Kuba followed her, grinning, and pulled open the creaking wardrobe door. He expected coats, blankets, maybe old hats.
Instead, there was a small wooden door right in the middle of the wardrobe.
Kuba froze. The door had a rainbow painted across it, and tiny coloured lights flickered around the edges like fireflies. Ania came closer and tugged his sleeve. "Kuba... do you see that?"
Before he could answer, the little door gave a soft click and began to open by itself. A warm glow spilled out onto their shoes. From somewhere beyond it came the sound of children laughing and music as light as bells. Kuba and Ania held their breath and stared into the shining gap, just as the opening widened a little more...
