Ola and Kacper discover a tiny blue door hidden behind their wardrobe. When they open it, a strange world and a soft voice wait on the other side.
Ola and Kacper liked their room best on rainy days, when the windows turned grey and the floor was perfect for games. That afternoon they were playing hide and seek. Kacper was counting with his face in the pillows while Ola searched for the best hiding place.
Then he stopped counting.
Something was shining behind the old wardrobe in the corner.
"Ola," he whispered, making his eyes very round. "Come here. Quick."
Ola tiptoed over and crouched beside him. Together they tugged at the heavy wardrobe. It groaned and slid just enough to reveal the wall behind it.
There, tucked in the corner, was a little blue door.
It was no bigger than a suitcase. The paint shone like wet glass, and a tiny cat had been carved into the wood, its tail curled around the handle as if it were guarding a secret.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
"Do you think it opens?" Ola asked at last.
Kacper leaned closer. "Only one way to find out."
Ola placed her hand on the handle. It felt cold. She gave it a gentle pull.
The door creaked open.
A bright rush of coloured light spilled out, so vivid it made them blink. Wind whooshed past their faces, carrying the smell of rain and something sweet, like sugar or flowers. Behind the door was not the wall at all, but a spinning path of steps, trees hanging upside down in the air, and balloons drifting slowly through the sky.
Ola grabbed Kacper's sleeve.
"Kacper..."
Before he could answer, a soft voice floated from the light.
"Help," it said. "Is someone there?"
