Class 1B and the Star Cupboard Mystery

In Class 1B, Zosia, Kuba, Ada and Michal find a new star-covered cupboard with a locked drawer. A tiny note, a gold key and a strange glow turn a quiet school morning into a mystery.

In a bright, cheerful school, there was Class 1B.

That was where Zosia, Kuba, Ada and Michal met every day. They liked their lessons, their games, and the funny things Mrs Kasia said when she smiled.

One morning, they arrived early and stopped in the doorway.

Right in the corner of the classroom stood a shiny new cupboard.

It had colourful stars all over it. And in the middle was a small drawer with a tiny lock.

"Look!" Kuba said. "That wasn't here yesterday."

The children crept closer.

Ada touched the smooth wood. Michal peeked underneath. Zosia looked all around the cupboard, but there was no clue. Kuba checked the desk tops, then the shelves, then even the bin.

On the top of the cupboard lay a little note.

It said: "Open me if you dare!"

Ada's eyes grew wide.

"Maybe the key is here somewhere," she whispered.

Then, from behind a stack of books, she gave a little gasp.

"I found something!"

In her hand was a tiny gold key.

The four children huddled around the drawer. The classroom felt very quiet all of a sudden.

Ada held her breath and slid the key into the lock.

Click.

The drawer opened a crack, and a soft, coloured light slipped out into the classroom...
