The Mystery of the Oak House

Pusia the squirrel and Felek the hedgehog find a secret hidden in their forest tree, and a quiet click leads them to something they never expected.

Deep in the green forest stood the biggest oak tree of all. Its branches spread wide like arms, and the animals called it the Oak House.

Pusia the squirrel lived there among the leaves. She was quick, bright-eyed, and always ready to scamper after trouble. Her best friend was Felek the hedgehog, who came everywhere with his little red rucksack bouncing on his back.

One morning, while they were playing hide-and-seek, Pusia darted behind the old trunk and stopped so fast her tail flicked upward.

Something silver glinted under the rough bark.

She leaned closer. It was a tiny handle, smooth and round, tucked into the tree as if it had been waiting for her all along.

"Felek!" Pusia hissed, hardly able to keep still. "Come quick!"

Felek hurried over, his little feet pattering on the roots. He squinted at the shining handle and frowned.

"That wasn't there yesterday," he said.

Pusia lifted one paw and touched it.

Click.

Both friends froze. The oak tree gave a soft, hollow groan, and somewhere inside the trunk, something slowly began to move.
