Franek lived at the edge of a big green forest, where the pine trees whispered in the wind. One sunny afternoon, he met his best friend Lila, and they ran off to play hide-and-seek between the trunks.
Franek was just about to count again when he stopped short. Behind a tangled old bush, something was glowing.
They pushed the branches aside and stared. In the middle of the forest stood a huge tree, taller than all the others. Its leaves shimmered like little lights in yellow, blue, and green. It looked as if the tree had swallowed a whole handful of stars.
Franek swallowed hard. Lila squeezed his hand, and together they crept closer.
When Franek reached out and touched the bark, a tiny golden door appeared in the trunk.
He froze. Lila’s eyes grew wide.
