The Lost Book of Arda

Lena, Kuba, and Sara uncover a hidden entrance beneath their school and step toward a world full of magic, secrets, and a book that could change everything.

The sun was dropping behind the tall trees when Lena, Kuba, and Sara raced their skateboards across the empty playground after school. Most afternoons ended with scraped knees, secrets, and arguments about who had the best tricks. This time, something else was waiting for them.

Sara pushed hard to beat her own speed record, her wheels rattling over the cracked tarmac. Then one wheel slammed into a stone hidden beneath a bush. She lurched forward, caught herself, and stared back at the thing she had hit.

It wasn’t just a stone. Dark green, almost black in the fading light, it was covered in strange carved marks that seemed to shimmer when she leaned closer.

"Look at this," she said.

Lena and Kuba rolled over at once.

Kuba crouched beside the bush and brushed away the dirt. "That doesn’t look like it belongs here," he muttered.

Lena slid her fingers over the markings. The stone gave a low, shuddering tremble under her touch.

The ground beside it shifted.

All three of them froze as a thin crack opened in the earth under the old, abandoned wing of the school. A patch of stone sank with a dry, grinding sound, revealing a narrow gap and a step cut into darkness below.

Sara took a quick step back. "We should probably not go down there."

But Lena was already shining her phone torch into the opening. The beam caught dust, stone, and a steep staircase disappearing underground.

Something moved deep below, just out of sight.

Kuba swallowed. "If we leave now, I’m definitely going to think about this all night."

The tunnel smelled cold and ancient. Their footsteps echoed as they descended, and the walls began to glow with twisting patterns that looked almost painted by moonlight. Shapes flickered at the edge of the torch beam. Whispering brushed past them, soft as breath.

Then the stairs ended.

A huge wooden gate stood before them, set into the stone like it had been waiting for centuries. Swirling carvings curled across its surface, and in the middle, letters slowly appeared, as if written by an invisible hand:

Enter if you wish to learn the magic of Arda.

Before any of them could speak, the gate throbbed with light. The carvings on the walls woke up all at once. Golden birds spiralled through the air. Tiny shoots pushed up between the stones, unfurling leaves that smelled of rain and distant flowers.

Sara backed away, heart hammering.

Then a voice spoke from the darkness behind them.

"Only those who are ready may go further...."

The light sharpened, the tunnel fell silent, and the great wooden gate began to open.
