Something strange has happened in Class 1B: the bell has gone missing. Gabrysia and her friends follow a trail of glitter and discover a secret leading to the attic.
Gabrysia loved school. Class 1B was bright, busy, and always full of little surprises. But on Monday morning, when the children lined up outside their classroom, something felt wrong.
Usually, the bell rang loudly to start lessons. Today, there was only silence.
Jim frowned and scratched his head. "Did anyone hear the bell?"
"No," said Gabrysia, peering toward the classroom door. "It’s gone quiet. Maybe it’s broken?"
Mrs Basia, their teacher, looked just as puzzled. "That is very strange," she said, lifting her eyebrows. "Without the bell, how will we know when break starts?"
The children began to whisper. Kuba, who was always ready with an idea, pointed down the corridor.
"We should look for it," he said. "A bell can’t just disappear."
Gabrysia opened her locker to check there first. Her books were still inside. But tucked between them was something else.
A tiny trail of glitter.
"Look!" Gabrysia called.
The others crowded around. The glitter led out of the locker, across the corridor, and up toward the stairs to the attic. No one in Class 1B had ever gone there before.
"Do you think someone took the bell up there?" Gabrysia whispered.
Kuba nodded, but his eyes were wide. "Let’s find out."
One by one, the children followed the shining trail. They walked softly, almost tiptoeing, until they reached the attic door.
Then they heard it.
A sound like a giggle. A small, chiming laugh.
Gabrysia squeezed Jas’s hand. The glitter on the floor sparkled under the dark door, and something moved just behind it.
