Kuba and Zosia find a hidden garden where flowers stir up different feelings. But the rainbow tree at the far end seems to be waiting for them.
Kuba and Zosia were best friends, and they loved exploring together. One sunny morning, they wandered to the tall green trees at the edge of their village. Between two leafy bushes, they spotted a narrow path they had never seen before.
"Look!" Kuba said, pointing. "Something is hidden there."
Zosia parted the leaves, and both children froze.
Before them was a garden unlike any other. Flowers as big as bowls lifted their bright petals toward the light. Some were yellow like butter, some pink like shells, and some blue as the sky. Tiny butterflies fluttered from bloom to bloom, and at the centre of the garden stood a fountain that glittered as it sang.
Zosia felt a strange little flutter in her chest, as if the garden already knew her name. Kuba stared with his mouth open.
They took a few careful steps inside. At the first flower, warmth bubbled through them, and they began to giggle. A little farther on, Kuba felt suddenly shy, and Zosia's cheeks grew hot, as if the garden had whispered a secret.
"What is this place?" Zosia breathed.
Kuba looked around at the swaying petals. "Maybe it's a garden where feelings grow."
So they moved on slowly, letting each flower and tree send a new feeling into their hearts. Joy. Surprise. A tiny bit of sadness. Even a spark of anger that vanished as quickly as it came.
Then they reached the very last tree.
Its leaves shimmered in every colour of the rainbow, and its branches glowed softly in the shade. Kuba and Zosia stepped closer, and their hearts began to thump faster and faster.
Beneath the rainbow leaves, something was waiting.
