Little Susie and her plush cat Felek fly to the moon in a tiny spaceship and discover a glowing tunnel hidden under the silver dust.
Susie loved the stars. Every night, she pressed her nose to the window and imagined her plush cat, Felek, could blink, talk, and whisk her away on a secret journey.
Then one evening, while Susie was tucked into bed, a soft blue glow slipped through her room. Behind the curtain, something tiny and shiny hummed awake. A little spaceship rolled into view, its round windows sparkling like raindrops. Felek lifted one paw and gave Susie a wink.
"Susie," he said, "it’s time for our expedition."
Susie gasped, then laughed with delight. She climbed into the spaceship beside Felek, and with a gentle whirr, they lifted above the roof, above the trees, above the clouds. Soon the moon floated ahead of them, round and silver and quiet.
They landed on the soft lunar dust with a tiny puff. Susie scooped up a handful of glittering pebbles while Felek sniffed at the strange white ground. Then Susie stopped.
Farther on, the moon itself seemed to open. A glowing tunnel shone beneath the surface, sending out thin lines of coloured light. A faint buzzing drifted from inside, soft as a sleeping bee.
Felek squeezed Susie’s hand. "What do you think is down there?"
Susie looked at the bright tunnel and took one careful step closer. Then the lights flickered, and something deep inside the moon moved.
