Zosia finds a glowing kitten in her backyard and discovers a ring-shaped portal that hums with strange sounds from another world.
One bright afternoon, Zosia was playing under the big oak tree in her backyard when something flickered in the bushes. She padded closer and stopped so fast her breath caught.
A kitten peered out at her. But this was not an ordinary kitten. Its fur shimmered with tiny blue, green, and gold lights, as if someone had sprinkled stars over its back. It blinked once, then spoke in a clear little voice.
"Hello. I am Miau-Miau, from the faraway planet Luminia."
Zosia stared at the kitten, then at the strange silver ring lying in the grass beside it. The ring glowed softly, and from inside it came a whisper of bells, a splash of water, and a far-off laugh that sounded like it belonged to no one she knew.
Miau-Miau twitched its tail and pointed at the ring. "Do you want to see my planet?"
Zosia took one careful step closer. The light in the ring pulsed once, and something deep inside it stirred, as if a door were waking up.
