The Wardrobe Portal

Lena and Antek find a strange old wardrobe in their grandmother’s attic. Inside, a glowing secret is waiting, and one step could lead them somewhere impossible.

Lena and Antek loved visiting their grandmother's house, especially on days when it rained too hard to play outside.

That afternoon, they were beginning to yawn over the same games when Grandma smiled and pointed upstairs. "Why don't you explore the attic?" she said. "There are plenty of old treasures up there."

The children hurried up the narrow wooden stairs. The attic was cool and dusty, with the smell of old books and forgotten boxes. In one corner stood a huge wardrobe they had never noticed before. It was darker than the others, with gold lion-shaped handles and carved doors full of twisting leaves.

"Let's open it," Antek whispered.

Lena nodded.

The moment they pulled the doors wide, a soft breeze slipped out, warm and fresh, like a forest after rain. Instead of shelves and coats, they saw tiny lights sparkling inside the wardrobe wall. Beneath them was a strip of bright green grass. And farther in, glowing in the dark, was a tunnel.

"Do you see that?" Lena breathed.

Antek tightened his fingers around hers. The tunnel shimmered once, as if it had heard them. Then a pale light pulsed from deep inside, inviting them closer.

Lena took one step forward.

The wardrobe door creaked shut behind them, and somewhere ahead, between the shining trees, something moved.
