Philip finds a pair of very strange socks, and they lead him into a room full of funny surprises and a mystery he is not ready for.
One morning, Philip rummaged through his drawer for his favourite green socks. He found a hat, a marble, and one sock with a hole in the toe. Then he found two very odd socks instead. One was pink with strawberry cheeks. The other was blue, dotted with peas, and wore a tiny moustache.
Philip stared. "Those are not my socks," he whispered.
He put them on anyway.
The socks gave his feet a tickly squeeze. Then they began to whisper, "Come with us to the Land of Funny Feet."
Philip blinked. Under the bed, where there had definitely not been a door a moment ago, a tiny wooden door had appeared. It had a sign on it that read: For brave sock friends only!
Before Philip could decide whether he was brave or just sleepy, the door creaked open. Bubbly butterflies floated out in a cloud of sparkles. Behind the curtain, a row of laughing slippers peeked out and snorted with giggles.
Then the socks tugged hard. Philip shot up onto his feet.
Pop, pop!
A swirl of candyfloss spun around him, and suddenly he was standing in a room where everyone danced on their toes. At the far end, a giant sock the size of a chair slowly turned toward him. A deep voice boomed, "Whoever is brave, solve the riddle of the Giga-Scarpet!"
Philip took one tiny step back. The giant sock wiggled once, and its top began to rise....
