Iga and Tymek follow a full-moon legend into the Old Forest and find a tower that should not exist. Inside, the door locks behind them and a riddle begins.
No one in town believed in the Green Tower. Even Tymek’s history teacher had laughed when the eleven-year-old, with his storm of red hair, mentioned it. But Tymek had heard the story from his grandmother: somewhere in the middle of the Old Forest stood a tower that could only be seen on a full-moon night.
Tonight, the moon was full, and Tymek had finally convinced his best friend Iga to come with him. They slipped between the trees in silence, stepping over roots and pushing past wet branches. Their torches wobbled in their hands, throwing nervous shadows across the moss-covered trunks.
Then the clouds drifted aside.
A pale glow flickered ahead, right where the forest had looked empty a moment before.
Iga caught Tymek’s sleeve. “Do you see that?” she whispered. “It’s... there.”
The tower rose out of the darkness as if the night itself had grown walls. It was green from top to bottom, like spring leaves woven into stone. Its roof tilted at an odd angle, and the narrow windows gleamed with a faint, glassy light. Before Tymek could say a word, the door creaked open.
Inside, a spiral staircase climbed into the shadows. On the first step lay a small, old key, polished smooth as if many hands had touched it before them.
Tymek reached for it.
The moment his fingers brushed the key, the air changed. The floor seemed to shiver beneath his shoes. The door slammed shut behind them with a loud bang, and the key was gone.
A voice floated down from above, soft and clear as a bell. “Those who find the Green Tower must solve its riddle before sunrise.”
Iga looked up. Tymek followed her gaze. Along the wall, a second doorway was appearing slowly, as if it were being drawn by invisible hands. At their feet, a glowing map spread across the floor, its lines shifting like living vines.
Three paths lit up one by one.
And from somewhere deep inside the tower, something began to move.
