Mystery in the Green Corridor

Ola and Staś discover a strange room at school and are pulled into a puzzling, nerve-rattling mystery that makes every step feel risky.

Ola and Staś thought their school was old, noisy, and completely ordinary. Then, on a rainy Tuesday, it stopped feeling ordinary at all.

The history teacher was halfway through a lesson when she frowned at the classroom door. Someone had left a bundle of things in a room at the end of the long green corridor, the one most pupils tried not to notice. She asked if anyone would fetch it, and Ola and Staś volunteered before they could think twice.

The moment they stepped into the corridor, the air seemed to change. The walls were painted a faded green that looked darker in the damp light, and their footsteps echoed too sharply, as if someone was walking just behind them. Staś pulled his shoulders up and kept close to Ola.

At the far end stood a door they had never seen before. It was old and heavy-looking, with a round golden handle and letters carved above it, half hidden by dust and cobwebs. Ola leaned closer, trying to make out the words, but the rain tapping on the windows made everything feel blurry and strange.

Then they heard it.

A soft, broken sobbing came from the other side of the door.

Ola caught her breath and gripped Staś's hand. Staś stared at the handle, then at her, his eyes wide. For one long second neither of them moved. Maybe someone needed help. Maybe they should run. Maybe they were already too late.

The sobbing stopped.

In the silence that followed, the golden handle slowly began to turn.
