Ada and Franek find a strange drawer in their classroom, and when Franek presses its yellow button, the room changes in a way they never expected....
Ada loved school. There was always something to notice, something to count, or something to laugh at. But that morning in Class 1B, she found something she had never seen before.
She and Franek were kneeling under their desks, looking for lost crayons, when Ada spotted a tiny old drawer in the corner of the room, just below the blackboard.
"Franek, look!" she whispered.
They crept closer. The drawer was small and wooden, with curly patterns on the front and a bright yellow button in the middle. It looked as if it had been waiting there for years. Franek held his breath, then pressed the button.
Click.
The sound was so soft that Ada almost missed it. Then the classroom lights flickered once, twice, and went out. A puff of coloured dust curled up around the drawer and began to spin in the air, faster and faster, like a tiny storm.
Ada grabbed Franek’s sleeve. Something inside the drawer gave a slow, sleepy creak....
