Franek and his dog Luna find a strange wooden bridge deep in the woods behind their house. When they cross it, the quiet forest begins to whisper back.
Franek loved the yard behind his house, but he loved walking there with Luna even more. Luna was his dog, with bright eyes, quick paws, and a tail that never seemed to stop wagging.
One sunny afternoon, they raced into the woods behind the house. Franek was about to call Luna back when he stopped so fast his shoes slid in the dirt.
There, between the trees, stood a little wooden bridge.
It had not been there yesterday. Franek was sure of it. The boards looked old and grey, and the handrail leaned a little to one side, as if the bridge had been waiting for someone to find it.
Luna gave a soft bark and trotted closer, sniffing the air. Franek looked at her and grinned.
"Come on," he whispered. "Let’s see what’s on the other side."
The bridge creaked as they stepped onto it. Franek held his breath. On the far side, the woods seemed different somehow, brighter and quieter at the same time. From the bushes came a faint rustle. Then a tiny flash of colour blinked between the branches.
Franek took one more step. Luna froze beside him.
A voice drifted out of the leaves.
"Who goes there?"
