Mummy, look, my mug is dancing!

Antoś finds his green pea mug has a secret. In the kitchen, one little dance leads to a sound from the cupboard full of plates.

There was a boy called Antoś. He lived in a block of flats with his mum, his dad, and his parrot, Tosia. Most mornings were plain and sleepy. This morning was not.

When Antoś walked into the kitchen, he stopped in the doorway. His favourite green pea mug was sitting on the table. He was sure he had left it in the sink last night. Before he could call out, the mug gave a tiny hop. Antoś blinked. The mug hopped again and sat up straighter, like it was trying to look important.

Tosia fluttered on her perch and let out a sharp little chirp. Antoś stepped closer. The mug tipped, spun once to the left, once to the right, and made a neat little bow.

“Mug, can you dance?” whispered Antoś.

The mug bowed again. Then, from inside the cupboard full of plates, came a soft ringing sound. Antoś froze. Something else in the kitchen had heard him.
