Mr Kacper's Lost Hat

Mr Kacper the rooster loses his favourite yellow hat in the busy yard. His funny friends search everywhere, but the trail leads to the old barn and a very strange sound.

In the sunny green courtyard, Mr Kacper the rooster wore his favourite yellow hat every morning. It sat a little crooked on his head, which made him look even more important when he crowed the wake-up call.

One morning, while he was doing his proud little dance, the hat gave a hop, a wobble, and then vanished.

Mr Kacper stopped mid-step. His beak fell open. "My hat!" he cried.

Ola the hen peered over with a grin. "Maybe it flew off to see the clouds," she said.

Franek the piglet trotted up, snorting happily. "Or maybe Susie the goose borrowed it for a joke. She does love a surprise."

They all began to search. They looked behind the water bucket, inside the feed bin, and under the garden bench. They found a rubber duck, three muddy cucumbers, and one very surprised worm, but no yellow hat.

Then, from the old barn, came a soft sound.

Chrum-chrum...

A small clatter followed. Then another.

The animals froze and stared at one another.

Mr Kacper took one careful step toward the barn door. Something inside moved again, and this time it sounded very, very close.
