Maksio and the Chattery Socks

Maksio finds a very odd pair of blue-spotted socks in a drawer, and when he puts them on, his feet begin to misbehave in the strangest way.

In a small house at the end of the street lived a boy named Maksio. He had a dog called Fafik, who liked to pull funny faces whenever he was hungry.

One morning, Maksio opened his sock drawer and rummaged through the pile of folded pairs. He was hunting for his favourite socks when he froze.

There, right at the back, lay a pair he had never seen before. They were white with bright blue spots, as neat as buttons and as odd as a circus hat.

"Where did these come from?" Maksio whispered.

Fafik poked his nose into the drawer, sniffed the socks once, and then sneezed three times in a row.

"I think they are enchanted," he barked. He only talked when Maksio was alone, which made the house feel even stranger.

Maksio grinned. Enchanted socks sounded far more interesting than ordinary ones. He pulled them on.

At once, his feet twitched.

Before he could take a proper step, they skipped him across the floor, crab-walked him toward the kitchen, and then bounced him backwards in a silly little frog jump. Fafik burst out laughing and spun in a circle after his own tail.

Then Maksio heard it.

A tiny voice.

It came from inside one of the socks.

"Hello?" Maksio whispered, staring down at his feet.

The sock gave a little wiggle.

And then both socks started talking.
