Lila and the Forest of Skylights

Lila finds a glowing path in the forest behind her house and meets a small gnome with a secret to share. But the light in the trees is starting to change.

It was a soft summer evening, and Lila was wandering in the garden behind her house when something bright flickered in the grass. She bent down and found a tiny skylight, no bigger than a button, shining like a little star.

Before Lila could blink, the skylight floated into the air and drifted toward the woods. One by one, more little lights appeared between the trees, and soon they were twinkling together in a shining path. Lila swallowed and followed them, stepping carefully over roots and leaves.

Near a very old oak tree, a small green gnome with an acorn hat peered out from behind the trunk. “Lila,” he whispered, as if he had been waiting for her all along, “we need your help in the Enchanted Light Forest.”

Lila took a slow step closer. The gnome leaned in and murmured something in her ear. Then the whole forest began to glow in rainbow colours, and deep in the dark trees, something answered with a low, mysterious sound.
