Grandpa Felka's Watch

Felek finds an old watch that opens a door to the past. When he presses a green button, his quiet afternoon turns into a strange and exciting journey.

Felek lived in a small yellow house by the woods. His favourite place was Grandpa's workshop, where the air smelled of wood shavings and old books, and the shelves were full of curious things.

One afternoon, while Grandpa dozed in his armchair, Felek climbed up on tiptoes and spotted something he had never seen before. It was a shiny old watch with three hands and a tiny green button on the side.

Felek picked it up. The watch was warm, as if it had just been waiting for him.

"I wonder what this button does," he whispered.

He pressed it.

At once, the watch began to tremble in his hand. A silver mist swirled around his feet, then around his knees, then all the way up to his nose. Felek gasped as the floor seemed to slip away beneath him. He felt light, lighter than a leaf.

When the mist cleared, Felek was no longer in the workshop.

He stood in a wide green meadow beneath a blazing sky. Huge creatures moved through the grass, their feet thudding softly like distant drums. One giant diplodocus turned its long neck and looked straight at Felek.

Tick, tick, tick.

The watch in his hand gave a small, sharp tick, and something in the grass beside him began to move.
