Tosia finds a strange door hidden in her grandmother's garden. When a tiny golden daisy begins to glow, a magical light spills out, and a secret world seems to be waiting behind it.
Tosia loved visiting her grandmother in the countryside. The garden was full of sweet raspberries, tall grass, and an old apple tree that sang with birds every morning.
One warm day, Tosia was racing barefoot through the grass with her plush panda, Fluffy, tucked under one arm, when she stopped short. Behind the raspberry bush stood a door.
It was old and a little rusty, but bright swirls of red, blue, yellow, and green danced along its sides, as if a rainbow had been painted there by hand. Tosia stared. She had never seen a door in the middle of a garden before.
She hugged Fluffy closer and crept nearer. The door had no handle. In the middle of it grew a tiny golden daisy, shining softly in the sun.
Tosia reached out and touched the flower.
The daisy gave a warm little glow. The door shivered, then slowly began to open. A wash of shimmering light spilled out, sparkling like a hundred tiny pieces of rainbow glass.
Tosia gasped. Fluffy stayed very still in her arms.
Beyond the door, something bright and whispery waited in the glow, and Tosia felt the air around her turn strange and fizzy, as if the garden itself had taken a deep breath. She took one careful step closer, and the light inside the doorway suddenly pulsed.
