Marysia spots a glowing drawer in her grandmother’s kitchen that only she can see. Inside, something begins to stir.
Marysia loved visiting her grandmother. The kitchen was warm and golden, always smelling of fresh buns and sweet compote, and the bright curtains danced in the sunlight.
One afternoon, while her grandmother stirred the pot on the stove, Marysia noticed something odd under the worktop. Beside the usual drawers, there was another one she had never seen before. It was small, new, and covered with tiny colourful stars.
"Grandma, what is that drawer?" Marysia asked.
Her grandmother frowned and wiped her hands on her apron. "What drawer, dear? There have only ever been three."
Marysia looked again. The fourth drawer was still there, glowing softly, as if it had a little light inside it. She reached out and pulled the handle. The drawer slid open with a quiet sigh, and a shine burst out like a handful of tiny lamps. Inside lay a map, a key, and something else, something that was moving.
Marysia leaned closer. From deep inside the drawer came a whisper, so soft she almost missed it.
