The Magic Bench

Maks and his dog Pimpek find a strange green bench in the park that glows, whispers, and seems ready to carry them somewhere unexpected.

Maks was six, and the park behind his house was his favourite place for imagining impossible things. Every afternoon, he and his dog Pimpek chased leaves under the old oak tree, where the shadows always seemed to move just a little too much.

That day, something new waited there. An old green bench stood beneath the branches, shiny with dew and wrapped in curling gold vines, as if it had grown out of the ground overnight. Maks climbed onto the seat.

The bench gave a tiny shiver. Then it flashed with little coloured lights.

Pimpek stopped at once. His ears shot up. A soft voice drifted from nowhere at all. "Hello, Maks... where do you want to go today?"

Maks spun around. The park was empty. No grown-ups. No children. Just the oak tree, the glowing bench, and Pimpek staring with round, bright eyes. The lights blinked faster. The air felt warm and tingly, as if the whole world was waiting for his answer.
