Carolina and the Whispering Crayons

Carolina hears her crayons whisper in her room, and Blue leads the others toward a hidden door in the wardrobe, where a strange glow waits behind it.

Carolina kept her crayons in a pencil case on the coffee table. Blue was her favourite. She used it for skies, oceans, and the tiny stripes on birds she made up at bedtime.

One evening, just as Carolina closed the door to her room, she froze. A whisper drifted from the table.

Carolina’s eyes grew wide. The crayons rolled together across the floor, straight toward the wardrobe.

"Come on," Yellow called. "Before it disappears!"

Carolina tiptoed after them. At the very bottom of the wardrobe, she saw a little door she had never noticed before. Blue stopped right in front of it.

"Ready?" it whispered.

Before Carolina could answer, the tiny door creaked open, and a soft, flickering glow spilled out into the dark....
