Lenka discovers that the tools in her drawer can talk, and a strange new adventure begins when their secret world suddenly stirs.
Lenka lived in a small yellow house with blue shutters, and her favourite place in the whole house was her bedroom drawer full of drawing tools. On a rainy afternoon, when the sky stayed grey and the puddles outside grew bigger and bigger, she decided to draw a lion.
She pulled open the drawer. “Ouch! Softer, please,” said a tiny voice.
Lenka froze.
Inside the drawer, the green crayon gave a little wiggle and smiled at her. “Hello, Lenka. I’ve been waiting all day to draw a tree.”
The blue eraser bounced once on the drawer bottom. “And I’d like to hop across the page like a frog!”
Lenka’s mouth fell open. More voices were joining in. The red marker boasted that it had once drawn a monster with six tails. The ruler laughed and told her about the day it helped an ant cross a crack in the table.
Then the pencil leaned forward and whispered, “Let’s make something new today. A whole world. Upside down.”
Lenka blinked at the tiny crowd. “Upside down? How?”
The eraser twirled. “Close your eyes. Trust us.”
So Lenka did.
When she opened them again, the drawer was no longer a drawer. It was a bright, busy city made of crayons, string, paper roads, and shining lines. Scissors sang from one corner. Colourful towers tipped and swayed. Lenka took one careful step forward.
Then, from deep inside the little city, came a low rumble.
Something was rolling toward them.
