A Secret Adventure in Zosia's Drawer

Zosia finds a drawer full of talking crayons and erasers, but the sharpener has vanished. Together they creep deeper inside the drawer, where something is rustling in the shadows.

Zosia's room was neat and bright. Books sat in a tidy row on the desk, and Pooh Bear dozed on the shelf with his nose tucked into his paws. But one drawer was different. It was where Zosia kept her crayons, scissors, erasers, and rulers, each in its own little place.

That afternoon, when Zosia pulled the drawer open, she heard a tiny giggle.

She froze. A red crayon gave a little nod.

"Psst, Zosia," it whispered. "We need your help."

Zosia blinked. The eraser spun around and waved a pink corner at her.

"The sharpener's gone," said the eraser. "It was here a moment ago. Now it's missing."

Zosia stared at the drawer. The crayons were real. The eraser was talking. Even the ruler seemed to be listening.

"Without the sharpener," said the red crayon, more softly now, "our points will get dull, and we won't be able to make a single neat line. Will you come with us?"

Zosia nodded before she could even think about it.

Together, she climbed into the drawer as if it were a tiny forest. They crossed a bridge made of rulers, slipped past a hill of pencils, and peered behind a stack of paper. Everything inside felt bigger than before, and a little bit secret.

Then, right at the back of the drawer, they heard a soft rustle.

Something was hiding in the dark.
