The Key in Raspberry Forest

Lena, Maks and Filip find a hidden key in Raspberry Forest, but the forest seems to answer them back. A mark in the earth and a strange sound draw them deeper into the mystery.

Raspberry Forest had always been the best place near Brodka village for mud-splashed rides, secret shelters, and dares whispered between friends. But that summer, the woods felt different. The air was cooler than it should have been, and every now and then a sharp gust slipped through the trees as if it knew where the children were going.

Lena was the first to notice. She braked beside the broad oak at the edge of their clearing and tilted her head. "Did you hear that?" she asked.

Filip glanced up from his bike. Maks had already taken off his helmet and was scanning the roots, the moss, the shadows between the trunks.

"It is probably just the wind," Filip began, but the words died in his mouth.

A low rumble rolled through the ground. Not loud, not exactly, but deep enough to make the oak’s leaves tremble. The children froze. Lena knelt and brushed away the damp moss at the base of the tree. Something metallic caught the light.

"Look," she whispered.

Nestled among the roots was a small iron key, green with age. Beside it, scratched into the earth, were two letters tangled together: L and F. Maks picked up the key carefully. It was cold enough to make him shiver.

Then the wind came again, harder this time, racing through the branches with a sound almost like voices. For one instant, Filip thought he saw someone move behind the bracken. Lena was already staring into the trees, her face tight with excitement and fear.

"This is not random," she said.

Maks turned the key over in his hand. "Then we find out what it opens."

Before anyone could answer, a crack snapped from deep in the forest. Another followed. Something was coming through the undergrowth, fast and close, and the three friends backed toward the oak as the shadows between the trees began to move.
